2018 saw me work as a design consultant on BBC’s adaptation of Malorie Blackman’s best-selling teen-fiction series ‘Noughts & Crosses’. Filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, it was a design challenge to turn the city into an alternative London where apartheid has been reversed. Here is some early pitch work showing my approach to colour, tone and symbolism as a full size Albion NOXO Albion Diorama:
I also created a new design bible for the show, a version of Owen Jones’ famous tome, The Grammar of Ornament, that attempted to create a new architectural order that would be a repeated motif in the show and a way to distinguish Albion’s urban landscape.
